CTG Aerospace takes off!

Crompton Technology Group Ltd, based in Banbury North Oxfordshire has added ‘CTG Aerospace’ as a new business division of the company. CTG draws upon many years of composite experience within the automotive industry, including composite propshafts, pressure vessels and hydraulic accumulators. CTG Aerospace designs, qualifies and manufactures a range of structural and non-structural composite components for both military and commercial aerospace applications. The company has also recently received the AS9100 accreditation from international certification body, Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA). The AS9100 standard refers to quality management systems requirements for aerospace companies involved in the design and manufacture of critical parts. The company was assessed in December last year by a qualified member of LRQA. The assessment is carried out by using an industry check-list and involved five stages, document review, pre-assessment, initial assessment, certification surveillance and finally re-certification.

For CTG the accreditation means that they can operate effectively in the aerospace industry and also attract new business. The accreditation also puts CTG onto “OASIS” which is an international database for aerospace suppliers. Kevin Parsons QES Manager, in-charge of the project said, “Achieving AS9100 means that we have a world class business system aligned to support the aerospace industry and our numerous aerospace customers. The best practices mandated by AS9100 have become the CTG standard which supports our entire customer base, in all industries, not only Aerospace. Our business system aids the efficiency and profitability of the company, and is flexible enough to constantly evolve as we grow the business. He went on to say “having a company with an accredited world class business system in North Oxfordshire is a credit to the high calibre of employees in the area”. CTG are a rapidly growing business and have employed an extra 25 people in 2006.
